Heidi Braun, MD

I am the medical director and founder of Braun Internal Medicine. Originally from San Antonio, TX, I grew up in Berlin, Germany and graduated from Hannover Medical University before moving to Savannah with my husband in the Summer of 2000 when I started my internal medicine residency at Memorial University Medical Center. After my graduation in 2003, I became board certified in internal medicine. I practiced with some of the area's most distinguished providers and facilities until 2007. In January 2008 I opened my own practice, Braun Internal Medicine, P.C. in Pooler, which I transformed into a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice on June 1st, 2017. It is my first priority to serve my patients and to meet and exceed their medical needs and expectations, so they can enjoy healthier and happier lives. My special interests include management of diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol. I am dedicated to treating patients as whole persons and am sensitive to the importance of mental and spiritual aspects of patients’ overall well being.

Practice Manager

Oliver Braun

I am the practice manager of Braun Internal Medicine, and I am excited about this new venture. I am looking forward to aiding our patient community in achieving the best possible in healthcare. It is my belief that we will cut some red tape and bring back care over administration. I was born and raised in Germany where I got a degree in accounting, I also was a firefighter and EMT before I came stateside in 2000. During my professional career stateside, I had the good fortune to work with some of the areas most distinguished European auto repair shops, catering to my mechanical side. In January 2008 I joined Doctor Heidi Braun's Team and have been at the helm of Braun Internal Medicine, P.C. business operations since. Now I have the pleasure to serve you in our DPC endeavor. If you have any business related questions, I am your partner and eager to solve any problems.

Medical Assistant

I am Dr. Braun's medical assistant, you may have come to know me at Braun Internal Medicine, P.C., where I was a team member since 2015. I trained and graduated as medical assistant in Germany, where I met my American husband before I moved to the United States permanently in 2005. I am excited to be part of Doctor Heidi Braun's Team and the new DPC practice model where we are able to concentrate on each individual patient in the way it should be. I will be by your side when it comes to scheduling appointments with Dr. Braun or specialists and have become efficient and successful in mapping savings on your medications or seeking help and savings in any other medically related issue. I will also be drawing your labs and assist Dr. Braun during procedures. I am looking forward to meet you at Braun Internal Medicine!

Using the Direct Primary Care model since 2017

In 2008 I set out to practice medicine the way I was taught and deemed effective and right. At the time I was cutting loose from corporate structures that dictated an ever higher number of patient visits per day to achieve economical success. I founded Braun Internal Medicine, P.C. to pursue the ideals I had for my medical services. I opened my own practice at the cusp of the affordable care act’s (ACA) implementation, at the time not knowing what was to come. Over time, the ACA and private insurances took more and more hold of my practice, infiltrating through billing, record keeping and treatment regulations, that ultimately tied my hands more than ever before. I knew I had to cut ties again and fortunately discovered the DPC practice model as a better alternative to the way things were.
